Updates

14 Oct 2007 - Website backgrounds

It's easy enough to make basic patterns in any image editor, even MS Paint. But it's difficult to make a more intricate pattern without being able to see it tiled. bgMaker and Perceptual Background Generator are just a couple of the online tools that help with this. It's much easier to make a good pattern with these tools which show you what your pattern will look like as a tiled background in real-time as you work on it.

Finally, there are also tons of background patterns available for free. Here are a few places to look:

16 Mar 2007 - I'm Taken

It's been almost a year since Oshyn made the very wise decision to hire me as their GUI developer and designer. I work with an excellent team, on challenging projects, and I get to travel on occasion — so I won't be leaving anytime soon.

I bring this up because I was phoned last week by someone looking for help with a large design project. For the record, I'm happily employed, and don't have enough free time to devote to major freelance jobs. Of course, I'm always interested in a little supplemental income, so if you need a basic logo or illustration, or minor web development, I'd be more than happy to do some weekend freelance.

19 Feb 2007 - New Photo Kit!

My old Canon Rebel(film), has mostly gathered dust since I bought it several years ago. My lenses were not very high-quality, so I got what I felt were soft photos. Then there's hassle of purchasing and processing the film. All in all, I think a nicer, digital camera will really motivate me to shoot more.

So now I've taken delivery of my first digital SLR, a Nikon D80. To go with that, I have two new lenses, a Tokina 12-24mm f/4, and a Nikor 70-300mm f/4-5.6. A few smaller items include a polarizer for the wide lens, a 4x close-up adapter for the long lens, and a larger, sturdier tripod. Thanks B&H Photo!

20 May 2006 - On the Lookout

I'm actively seeking a new position and/or new freelance clients. If you or someone you know is in need of a graphic designer or web developer, I would love to hear from you!

14 Mar 2005 - Site Updates

I've added some more recent websites to the Client Side page. My résumé is also newly updated and expanded to include my recent experience and skills.

I just came across the Color Scheme Generator 2. I've seen several similar tools, but this one is very easy to use and actually produces good combinations. This would be a useful way for non-designers to select a pleasing color scheme for their project.

29 Dec 2005 - Relaunch complete! (mostly)

All the pages finally have content. I'll continue adding things, but for now, at least the site feels somewhat complete.

07 Sep 2005 - Moved

I have relocated to Redondo Beach. My new address and number are next to the logo above.

18 Jun 2005 - Site Redesign

I've finally produced a design that I'm satisfied with (designers make the worst clients) and started building the new site. The home page is basically complete, but I'll be adding pages and functionality over the next couple of weeks, starting with examples of my work. In the mean time, there may be some broken links and such, so please bear with me.
